"I dream of touching people at the core of their being."
MARIA HERA, MfA
Born in 1978, Maria Hera is a German artist with roots in Transylvania, Romania. She studied Fine Arts at the University of Applied Sciences in Hanover under Professors Sigrun Jakubaschke and Bernhard Garbert, and became a master student of Professor Bernhard Gabert. Since 2008, she has been living and working in Vienna. There, she has been active as an installation and performance artist, experimental filmmaker, and street artist.
Emerging from the DADA movement and its revolutionary ideals, collage became part of the general public’s creative expression in the 1970s. It is one of the most democratic art forms, enabling individuals to creatively transcend the world around them.
Images influence our subconscious in just fractions of a second, shaping our emotions, thoughts, and ultimately our perception of reality. For as long as I can remember, I have used scissors and glue to intellectually explore the messages in visual media and to craft my own vision of reality. I love telling stories—stories that are worth telling. Stories that inspire wonder, provoke thought, and ignite the fire of inspiration.
