"I dream of touching people at the core of their being."
MARIA HERA MfA.
Born in 1978, Maria Hera is a German artist with roots in Transylvania, Romania. She studied Fine Arts at the University of Applied Sciences in Hanover under Professors Sigrun Jakubaschke and Bernhard Garbert, and became a master student of Professor Bernhard Gabert. Since 2008, she has been living and working in Vienna. In that time, Maria Hera has been active as an installation and performance artist, experimental filmmaker, and street artist.
Born out of the DADA movement and its revolutionary ideals, the collage became part of the broader public’s creative toolkit in the 1970s. As such, it is one of the most democratic artistic techniques—allowing individuals to creatively transcend the world around them.
Images influence our subconscious in fractions of a second, shaping our emotions, thoughts, and ultimately our reality. For as long as I can remember, I’ve used scissors and glue to intellectually explore the messages of visual media and to construct my own vision of reality. I love telling stories—stories worth telling. Stories that inspire wonder, spark reflection, and ignite the fire of inspiration.
