"I dream of touching people at the core of their being."
MARIA HERA MfA.
Born in 1978, she is a German artist with roots in Transylvania, Romania. She studied Fine Arts at the University of Applied Sciences in Hanover with Prof. Sigrun Jakubaschke and Prof. Bernhard Garbert, and became a master student of Prof. Bernhard Gabert. Since 2008, she has lived and worked in Vienna. Since then, Maria Hera has been active in Vienna as an installation and performance artist, experimental filmmaker, and street artist.
Born from the DADA movement and its revolutionary spirit, collage entered the creative repertoire of the general public in the 1970s. As such, it is one of the most democratic artistic techniques, allowing people to creatively transcend the world around them.
Images affect our subconscious within a fraction of a second, influencing our feelings, thoughts, and ultimately our reality. I have always used scissors and glue to intellectually explore the messages of visual media and to create my own vision of reality. I love telling stories—stories that are worth telling, that inspire wonder, spark reflection, and ignite the fire of inspiration.
