“I dream of touching people at the core of their being.”
MARIA HERA, MfA
Born in 1978, Maria Hera is a German artist with roots in Transylvania, Romania. She studied fine arts at the University of Applied Sciences in Hanover under Prof. Sigrun Jakubachke and Prof. Bernhard Garbert, and became a master student of Prof. Bernhard Gabert. Since 2008, she has lived and worked in Vienna, where she has been active as an installation and performance artist, experimental filmmaker, and street artist.
Born out of the DADA movement and its revolutionary spirit, collage found its way into the creative repertoire of the broader population in the 1970s. It is one of the most democratic artistic techniques, allowing individuals to creatively transcend the world around them.
Images affect our subconscious in just fractions of a second, shaping our emotions, thoughts, and ultimately our reality. Since the beginning, I’ve used scissors and glue to explore visual media messages intellectually and craft my own vision of reality. I love telling stories—stories that are worth sharing, stories that inspire wonder and reflection, and that spark the fire of inspiration.
