Born in 1978, Maria Hera is a German artist with roots in Transylvania, Romania. She studied Fine Arts at the University of Applied Sciences in Hanover under Professors Sigrun Jakubachke and Bernhard Garbert, and became a master student of Professor Bernhard Garbert. Since 2008, she has been living and working in Vienna. Maria Hera has been active in Vienna as an installation and performance artist, experimental filmmaker, and street artist since 2008.

Born from the DADA movement and its revolutionary spirit, collage entered the creative repertoire of the general public in the 1970s. As such, it is one of the most democratic artistic techniques, allowing citizens to creatively transcend the world around them.

Images impact our subconscious in fractions of a second, shaping our feelings, thoughts, and ultimately our reality. I have always used scissors and glue to intellectually explore visual media messages and to create my own vision of reality. I love telling stories—stories worth telling, to spark wonder, provoke thought, and ignite the fire of inspiration.
