Preserving the charm of the turn of the century

This Thonet Rocking Chair is from the turn of the century. The chair bears a stamped Thonet mark. Both the seat and backrest have received new Viennese cane weaving, replacing the worn-out original. The chair was completely disassembled, the old finish removed by sanding, and a new finish applied with stain and shellac. During reassembly, the original screws were reused.
